Who We Are
More than 30 years of serving in BC
Lakes District Maintenance is a highway road and bridge maintenance company that has proudly served British Columbia since 1988.
Centrally located in Burns Lake, Lakes District Maintenance is responsible for keeping roads and bridges safe for the travelling public in the Lakes and Stikine service areas. Maintaining more than 3,500 km of the province’s road network requires more than 50 plow trucks and 100 British Columbians working year-round.
In 2016, Lakes District Maintenance joined Volker Stevin, expanding and solidifying both companies’ commitment to providing unparalleled, safe experiences for all drivers.
Lakes District Maintenance is committed to safely serving our communities. Our Mission is to connect the communities we serve while providing peace of mind to the travelling public by ensuring the safe, efficient movement of people, goods, and services.

With our head office based in Burns Lake, the heart of the Lakes District, along with our most northern office located in Dease Lake in the Stikine Region there is no shortage of friendly locals, small-town energy, or outdoor activities.
If you are looking for communities built around connection and adventure, then the Lakes District and Stikine Region are for you. Newcomers are welcomed with open arms and quickly introduced to endless outdoor activities for the whole family.
In Burns Lake, the only traffic is on the mountain biking trails. Head a few minutes north from Burns Lake to Boer Mountain Recreation Site. On over 4,000 hectares of Crown Land, you will find more than 90 km of world-class mountain biking trails and Canada’s first International Mountain Biking Association’s Ride Centre.
During the winter months, you can pack up your whole family (dogs included) and hit the trails at Omineca Ski Club, one of Canada’s oldest cross-country ski clubs. Not only does Omineca offer a world-class biathlon range, but it is also home to Aidan’s Dog Trail, a loop for both skiers and their four-legged friends to enjoy.
